After- The design provides sweeping views of the  surrounding mountains, Manitou Springs, and Garden of the Gods.
 Before- The old cabins had charm but were not occupied year round and maintenance was difficult.
 The location of the two original cabins remains the same in the new design; the renovation connects the buildings so the finished residence can function as one space.
 The hillside site  made construction more complicated. Erosion control was was a major issue.  Asbestos siding on the upper cabin was removed by an abatement crew.
 The front porch has great views of Garden of the Gods to the north.   HardiBoard siding and shingles along with rot resistant trim materials simplifies maintenance.
 Existing stone retaining walls were repaired and rebuilt, the colored concrete front steps and stone veneer complement the landscape.
 The upper level landing is open to the living room, dining area, and kitchen below.
 The living room has great views.
 Kitchen and dining open to an outdoor concrete patio.
 Oak stair and balustrade match the low-maintenance luxury vinyl plank floor.
 The front bedroom  with sweeping views to the northeast.
 The rear bedroom is tucked into the wooded hillside.
 A third bedroom with views to the northwest.
 The rear corner room doubles as a sitting room with fold out couch. Custom magnetic bifold doors save space and do away with typical bifold track systems.
 One of the two full baths has a deep soaking tub.
 A narrow sink and vanity make the small powder room feel more spacious.
 The rear patio with retaining walls tucks into the hill.
 The rear stair, with custom steel rail, provides convenient access to the parking area.
